New Members Inducted To Honor Society
The National Honor Society Chapter of Newtown High School inducted 13 new members at a ceremony on October 23.
The following students were inducted as members: Stephen John Ambrogio, Kaitlin Barry, Anna Bingaman, Philomena Conti, Christine Deweese, Timothy S. McCloud, Mallory McQuail, Zachary Miller, Katharine Morrissey, Emily Simoneau, Grant Skinner, Todd Winner, and Peter Yemc.
To be eligible for selection, a student must have an overall unweighed average of 88 or better over at least five semesters of academic work at Newtown High School. The eligible student completes a student information form demonstrating qualities of good character, leadership, and service to school and community. Names of eligible students are sent to faculty and staff for review. A five-member faculty council makes decisions on selection.
Once selected and inducted, students are expected to maintain the qualities for which they were selected throughout their high school years. Advisors for the National Honor Society are Winifred Brickmeier and Jennifer Huettner.
