Helen Brickfield Elevated To Top Newtown Chamber Post
The Newtown Chamber of Commerce has announced the promotion of Helen Brickfield to executive director, effective immediately.
Brickfield has served as the chamber’s marketing director for the past few years, though her expertise and initiative have helped to expand that role well beyond marketing.
The chamber is now in the midst of helping its members get “back to business” in a safe manner, and Brickfield is helping to lead that effort, according to Chamber President Scott Anders.
“In these particularly challenging times for our members, we are grateful to have someone with Helen’s talent and dedication to our community and businesses in this leadership role,” Anders said.
Brickfield said the chamber is supporting the business community by promoting local businesses via business referrals and introductions, a mobile-responsive website, social media, and e-mail marketing.
“We look forward to when we can do in-person events like Newtown Day,” Brickfield said.
The chamber, she said, like its members, is a small business.
“And we are working hard for our members — who we view as our customers — processing and sharing information as quickly as we can,” Brickfield said. “Each week, I try to reach out to current and prospective members and ask, ‘How can we support you?’ The business climate has changed, and it is challenging to figure out what will work best. We know what is not working.”
She said there are many benefits to chamber membership.
“If we have not reached out to you, please reach out to us. Our goal is to be proactive and inclusive,” Brickfield said. “We are actively building alliances with other chambers to expand our members’ reach to other communities.”
Current members are asked to join the local chamber’s social media pod.
“What is that? Please tag us in your posts, and comment on our posts,” she said. “That way, we see your post and can comment back. This helps keep your business feed active. We know that consumers rely more than ever on their devises during these times — let us help your business be found. Let us share your business updates, events and safety measures.”
