The American Red Cross (ARC) has scheduled a blood drive for Tuesday, November 6, at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street. Collections will be done between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm.

As influenza activity picks up, ARC is urging healthy donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets to ensure a strong blood supply for patients in need.

Blood and platelets can only be given by donors who are feeling well, however. One way to maintain health is to get a flu vaccine each fall. There is no waiting period to give blood or platelets after receiving a flu shot as long as the donor is symptom free and fever free.

Donors must also be at least age 18.

Appointments to donate blood can be done by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting [naviga:u]redcrossblood.org[/naviga:u], or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Walk-ins are also always welcomed at Red Cross blood drives.

More information and details are available at [naviga:u]redcrossblood.org/together[/naviga:u].
