To the Editor:
The office of first selectman is a position of leadership, and, as such, the holder of the office should be one who has the courage of his convictions. Difficult decisions must be made, and, regrettably, those decisions, though in the best interest of Newtown, are not always the most popular, particularly among those who are partially informed, or worse, ill-formed.
I take more than some degree of comfort in the knowledge that Herb Rosenthal has proven himself to be one who will make the hard and sometimes unpopular decisions, all in the face of rising clamor. He will not âplay to the roomâ by spouting politically expedient âdrivelâ that people want to hear in lieu of the pertinent information that people need to hear. In short, he does what we have elected him to do for the past ten yearsâ¦he leads. Letâs secure his leadership for the next two years by voting for Herb Rosenthal on November 6.
Very truly yours,
Timothy J. Holian
