To the Editor:

As Election Day quickly approaches, I along with many other town residents find that it is time to make choices that will affect not only us, but certainly our children and our neighbors.  It is exciting to see new names and faces in the political arena, people who are willing to give their time to help keep Newtown on the straight and narrow. It is also exciting to see the emergence of a new political party and so many individuals running nonaffiliated, giving the voters even more choices.

Weeding through the candidates and through their qualifications, one name always finds its way to the top of the list. That name is Joe Hemmingway. Over the past 13 years I have come to know Joe as a caring, dedicated, and driven individual. Joe has given countless hours to serving his community in various capacities. He has served on numerous town committees and commissions, volunteered, in many instances with his family, for numerous community projects, both locally and long distance. He co-chaired Support Our Schools in their efforts to disseminate budget information and ultimately have the budget referendums approved. The list goes on and on. Joe has thrown his hat into the arena and is once again seeking election to the Legislative Council. Joe Hemmingway is a dedicated individual who has served and, given the chance, will continue to serve all of Newtown well. Vote for Joe Hemmingway, District 2 Legislative Council.
