Seeking Republicans For Commission Vacancies

Registered Republicans interested in town government can offer their services to fill several vacancies. Republican vacancies on town boards and commissions are listed below.

As an appointed position, there is a vacancy on the Conservation Commission to replace Cara Gillespie-Wilson who has resigned. This position runs until December 31, 2007; however, the person who is appointed can then ask to be reappointed for a full term.

There is a vacancy on the Water and Sewer Authority to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of Lillian Strickler. This position runs until June 1, 2009.

Additional vacancies are: Commission on Aging, Alternate, two years; Building Appeals Board which meets as needed but has never met yet; Charter Communications Advisory Board, two years; Board of Ethics, Alternate and the Lake Lillinonah Authority, three years.

Any interested resident of Newtown who is a registered Republican should contact Barbara O’Connor, chairman of the Candidates Committee, at 426-1515, Jim Smith, chairman of the Newtown Republican Town Committee at 426-4620; or any other member of the Town Committee.
