Newtown Volunteer Among ACS Honorees
More than 34 volunteers, community groups, and businesses, including several Fairfield County residents and a Newtown Relay For Life co-founder, will be recognized by the American Cancer Society for their outstanding work at the Eighth Annual Volunteer Awards reception Thursday, November 8 at 6:45 pm at The Waterview, 215 Roosevelt Drive, in Monroe.
Barbara Jennes and Steve Kehoe, teachers at Scotts Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield, Nancy Clifford of Ridgefield, and Albert Rippel and Kyle Smith of Brookfield will receive the 2007 American Cancer Society Sandra C. Labaree New England Volunteer Values Award.
Jennifer Lechinski of Monroe and Mary Marinaccio of Newtown will receive the Mission Support for Relay For Life Award, and Maryclaire Quinn of Bethel will receive the Advocacy Volunteer of the Year Award.
âThis awards ceremony is our way to recognize the individuals, groups, and businesses that go above-and-beyond in their support and sacrifice for the American Cancer Societyâs events and programs,â said Area Director of Cancer Control Michelle Wolf.
