Madeline Hutchinson

Madeline (Sawyer) Hutchinson, 82, died November 1 at her home in Newtown.

 Born in Winchester, Mass., on May 31, 1917, she attended Connecticut College and later earned her master of art’s degree at the University of Bridgeport. As a young woman she was a member of the Boston Theater Guild and participated in local theater productions.

Madeline worked at the University of Bridgeport for 18 years, retiring in 1964 as director of Career Planning and Placement.  She was an active member of Christ’s Church in Easton for almost 40 years, serving on the vestry and in the choir.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Sherman of Maine; her son, Mark H. Hutchinson of Massachusetts; daughters, Anne Hutchinson of Oklahoma and Sara Hutchinson of New Mexico. Also surviving are three grandchildren Mark, Christopher and Sara Rose.

Services were Thursday, November 4, at Christ’s Church on Stepney Road, Easton.
