Family: My mom, Diana; and my dad, Tom. I’m lucky enough to have both parents around, plus a younger sister, Kelly. My parents own The Angry Pepper store in Monroe.

Pets: I’ve got this little demon dog — it’s mainly my mom’s and sister’s now, after I’ve forgone many of my responsibilities — this little yapper named Scooter. He’s about 5, I think.

Occupation: Right now I’m doing landscaping and gardening.

Hobbies: I’m in a band. We’re working on a name, but I’m a bit skeptical about it. Right now it’s Lavender Social Club, and I don’t really like that name very much so I don’t know, I think we’re going to change it. I’ve been making music for years. I won the Music Production award in middle school, and ever since that and the Music Production classes at Reed School, I was like ‘Dang! You can do this??!’ Freshman year of high school I asked my parents for a Mac book, because it had Garage Band on it, and all of this is how I ended up meeting a lot of the friends I have today — making music. We play gigs all around the area.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We moved here when I was 2 or 3. I’m 26 now, so nearly my whole life.

What was the most recent movie you saw at the theater? Probably not something very good. I just don’t remember it. I started watching one last night though, at home. The Lady in the Lake, an old Robert Montgomery movie. I got about halfway through this movie and thought, ‘What is going on with this movie?’ It’s shot from the first point of view, and I think they were trying to do something revolutionary there.

If you could spend the day with someone, living or deceased, who would it be and why? A huge hero of mine is Jonathan Richmond. I’m a huge fan of his music. I met him outside one of his concerts, and we played for him in like below freezing weather, and then we talked for like 45 minutes. I’d like to pick his brain a bit more and get to know him a little bit better. Either him or Bruce Lee. But [Jonathan Richmond] is incredible. He’s been a musician since the late 60s or early 70s, and he’s transitioned from punk music to more of an acoustic. He just plays an acoustic nylon string guitar now, and he sings in multiple languages, recites poetry, makes songs up on the spot. He’s really interesting and I’d like to get a closer perspective of that.

What is something you cannot live without? Something to improve upon. Something new to learn or discover.

What do you feel is the best part about Newtown? I like that it’s in a spot where you can go to different towns for entertainment if we don’t have it here, but Edmond Town Hall is great. [Theater Manager] Kat Moran is great. They’ve improved a lot up there, and I feel like she’s been a part of that. Also, there’s great trails, and nature, and there’s a lot to do. You just have to look for it. I like that it feels like a small town, but it’s not so small to where you can’t explore and drive around and find new places. I’m still finding new roads and I’ve lived here over two decades.

What would you like to see covered, or covered more, in The Newtown Bee? Snapshot is cool. Maybe showcasing more musicians and artists, maybe giving more biography to upcoming bands and artists, stuff like that.

Who is the greatest influence in your life? Myself.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Don’t do things just for the superficiality of it. Do things because spiritually it’s going to enrich you. You gotta do things from the heart.
