To the Editor:
Like the rest of the country, Newtowners will be going to the polls next Tuesday to vote for candidates for public office. Our local races include the important choice for State Senate in the 28th District. What we need is a senator who can best represent the interests of Newtown in Hartford. Through his leadership over the past two years, Senator John McKinney has served his Newtown constituents well in Hartford.
We face the imminent prospect of a town purchase of Fairfield Hills. We must manage this major asset in an environmentally responsible manner, while at the same time attract desirable economic development that will serve to keep our property taxes down.
Senator John McKinney is a ranking member on the State Environment Committee and proud recipient of the Connecticut Fund for the Environment Award for his leadership in environmental issues. Senator McKinney has also been endorsed by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association for his leadership in efforts to cut taxes and promote job growth. I can thing of no better senator to represent Newtown at this critical juncture than John McKinney.
Please remember to vote Republican on Election Day.
Sincerely,
Karen Blawie
