Newtown

Wins

To the Editor:

Regardless of which political party or which individual candidates are elected on Tuesday, it’s clear that at the end of this very energized and heated campaign season, Newtown will be the biggest winner of all.

Candidates and parties have had to address all the issues facing Newtown, not just those they know best. Each of the party’s platforms, while very different a year ago, have since morphed in some respects into the messages that we all believe reflect the sentiment of our constituents. The recent debate at Edmond Town Hall and Pizza & Politics at Reed Intermediate School have demonstrated how far all of us have come to identify the concerns of the public regarding planning, accountability regarding expenditure of tax dollars, and transparency at each level of public service to help the public better understand the inner workings of our local government.

Just as the challenges facing our community evolve, so will the relationship of the Independent, Republican and Democratic parties as we work together in years to come as partners in service to Newtown.

We are all grateful for this opportunity to run as candidates for elected office in this great Connecticut town. We thank our families, our friends, and our growing number of supporters we have met along the way. Whether we win or not, we won’t let you down.

Sincerely,

James Belden, Gary Davis, Robert Duero, Kevin Fitzgerald, William Furrier, Richard Gaines, Bill Hart, Robert Hennessey, Magaret Jepsen, William McNerny, Mike Mossbarger, Po Murray, Karen Pierce, Benjamin Roberts, Albert P. Roznicki, and Bruce Walczak
