Masonicare Home Health And Hospice Hosting Flu Shot Clinic
BROOKFIELD â The Brookfield office of Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 777 Federal Road, will be conducting a walk-in flu vaccine clinic at the office for individuals 18 years of age and over. The clinic will be held Tuesday, November 11, between the hours of 2 and 4 pm. It is not necessary to make an appointment.
Medicare recipients, Medicare Part B will be billed for the vaccine â remember to bring the Medicare card. Anyone with insurance through either Aetna or Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield should also bring their insurance card, as the insurance company will be billed.
Anyone not covered by either one of the above insurances will be charged a fee of $40. Flu shots are being offered at no charge to uninsured veterans 18 years of age and over.
Be sure to wear short sleeves under your jacket or sweater.
On an average, 20,000 people die from influenza every year.
Masonicare recommends vaccination for those people who are most at risk for serious complication: those over 65 or with chronic illnesses such as heart, kidney or lung disease, diabetes, etc, should be vaccinated every year. Others who should get the vaccine are those who live with or take care of people who are at risk.
This vaccine should not be taken by anyone with an allergy to eggs or egg products, is currently ill, has a high fever, or is pregnant. Persons with a history of Guillain-Barre syndrome should consult with their physicians before receiving the vaccination.
