Caroline Violet Horne

Cherished Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

Caroline Violet Horne, 79, of Danbury, died October 22 in the Yale New Haven Medical Center in New Haven. She was the beloved wife of 56 years of Charles L. “Chuck” Horne. Born in Cambridge, Mass., January 26, 1930, she was the daughter of Mary (Pagliuca) and Antonio Iovine.

In addition to her husband, she leaves three loving children, including Cynthia Callery and her husband, James, of Sandy Hook; a dear sister; seven devoted grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews, all of whom she greatly loved.

She retired as a computer operator, having been employed by the Institute of Children’s Literature of Redding.

She and her husband had been avid Candle Pin bowlers, and she proudly was considered “better than her husband” at the art of finessing the ball within the lanes. The couple also enjoyed traveling and some of their most treasured memories were the trip to Hawaii for their 55th anniversary, Bermuda, Florida, and enjoying Mashpee and Falmouth on Cape Cod.

Her grandchildren were the source of great joy and brought her much happiness.

Mrs Horne and her family had been very appreciative and grateful for the considerate care she was given by the nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Medical Center.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated October 26. Burial followed in the Wrentham Centre Cemetery, Wrentham Centre, Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center, Yale New Haven Medical Center, PO Box 2038, New Haven CT   06521-2038.
