A Plan For Newtown's Future
A Plan For
Newtownâs Future
To the Editor,
When I decided to enter the race for first selectman last winter, I did so because of my concern for the future of Newtown. We didnât seem to have any plan or guidance leading us forward. I identified problems and mistakes that have been made and came up with plan that solves most of them. My plan has been discussed in all of the local newspapers over the course of the campaign.
The key points are: move commercial activity from main roads to the village centers, promote small business, promote tourism, and work to bring back commuter rail to Newtown. It will make the community more livable and put us on a sustainable path for the future.
Iâm running as an unaffiliated candidate. That is the most difficult way to run for office. I chose to do so because this is my home and I care about the future.
I hope the voters of Newtown will vote for me on November 3. The future is at stake.
Thank you,
Patrick Heigel
