A Great Family Dinner Night

To the Editor:

Newtown Parent Connection’s Family Dinner Night was a resounding success thanks to the combined efforts of so many in our wonderful community. Our sincerest appreciation is extended to our cosponsors, Newtown Youth & Family Services, especially Beth, Amanda, and Jessie; Newtown Prevention Council, Newtown Police Department, Newtown Deli, Lenny and Paula Schiable from the Ice Cream Shop, Dr Baum, Stop & Shop, Big Y, and the Reed Intermediate School staff (especially Scott, chef extraordinaire, and the custodians who assisted us). In addition to the more than 270 people who enjoyed a wonderful ziti dinner and ice cream dessert, we must thank DJ Kevin Koschel and his wife Beth who motivated unity among families and provided hours of interactive fun! Thank you, also, to Temple Whitaker and the young people who volunteered to paint faces, hands, and arms.

A special thank you, also, to the Newtown Parent Connection executive board of directors: Chris Lyddy, Joan Ponsky, Terry Laslo, Rob Ryder, Fran Walczak, and Roseanne Loring. More than 20 volunteers came out to assist with setup, serving, and cleanup, making the evening run exceptionally smoothly. Our tireless workers, Jack Laslo, Connie Eaton, Ken Rodbell, Joan Piscitelli, Lorraine VanVeen, Marie Rojo, and Annette Barbour deserve extra recognition! Very special appreciation is extended to NHS Principal Chip Dumais who spent the entire evening helping in all capacities!
