A Blight Of Political Yard Signs
A Blight Of Political
Yard Signs
To the Editor:
One of the things I have always loved about Newtown is the fact that decades ago the primary political parties agreed not to litter the town with signs as the elections approached. It made our town different and special and certainly nicer. I appreciated it more every year as I drove around the area and noticed how terrible other towns looked littered with signs. I wondered for what purpose, since I had never known anyone who was convinced to vote for a particular party based on a yard sign.
When the Independent Party started up they knew of the agreement and decided not to follow it. As it is, they have turned Newtown into just another town full of ugly signs.
I can only hope that the Republican and Democratic parties in town do not lower their standards and continue with their agreement not to put up yard signs. I for one will continue to vote my conscience and vote for the people that I believe have Newtownâs best interest at heart, and strive to keep it Nicer in Newtown.
Respectfully,
