Gregory Chionâs Fight            With Leukemia Ends
Gregory Chion, 17, son of John and Ginny (Hudack) Chion of 10 Cobblerâs Mill Road, Sandy Hook, died October 26, in Westchester Medical Center, where he had been receiving treatment since January for Leukemia.
He was born in Danbury, July 26, 1983. A lifelong resident of Newtown, he was a senior at Newtown High School. He was an active and popular student at the school. Gregory was co-editor of the Senior Yearbook; captain of the Newtown High School Swim Team; a drum major in the high school marching band; a member of the National Honor Society; and a member of the Spanish Honor Society. A Scholar Athlete, he was a recipient of the DeGroat Athletic Award. He was a former member of the Boy Scouts and the St Rose Youth Group. Gregory is survived by his parents and his sister, Jennifer Chion, a senior at Quinnipiac University. Jennifer generously provided a white stem cell transplant to her brother last June.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St Rose Lima Church on October 30. Interment was in Newtown Village Cemetery.
