Multiple Charges

Police said they responded to a complaint from the Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street on the evening of October 21, regarding a man who was attempting to make a purchase with some allegedly stolen credit card information.

Police investigated the complaint and then charged Elvin Emilio Batista Beltre, 25, of The Bronx, N.Y., with identity theft, illegal use of a credit card, and use of stolen credit card information.

Beltre posted $7,500 bail for a November 5 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.

Altercation

Police received a call about 8 pm on October 22, informing them that a bar fight had occurred between two women at McGuire’s Ale House at 130 Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville, so they responded to investigate.

Police allege that Jessica Byrnes, 31, of Woodbury struck another woman during that altercation, after which they charged Byrnes with disorderly conduct and with possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

After processing, Byrnes was released on $500 bail for a November 5 court appearance.

VW Off The Road

Police report that while negotiating a curve in the road on Hattertown Road, about 1,000 feet north of its intersection with Saddle Ridge Road, motorist Laura Breton-Bueno, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Cabriolet, lost control of the auto and then skidded off the southbound road shoulder, striking an embankment at about 11:45 pm on October 24.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Breton-Bueno an infraction for driving without a license and for making a restricted turn.

South Main Crash

At about 2:55 pm on October 22, motorist Margaret Moriarty, 72, of New Milford was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Greenbriar Lane, as trucker Vincent Spina, 52, of Danbury was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Fuso truck southward on South Main Street, police said.

The Chevrolet then crossed the road’s centerline and struck the truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Moriarty an infraction for failure to drive to the right.

Sedan vs Van

About 3 pm on October 19, Phillip Ives, Jr, 21, of Milford, who was driving a commercial 2011 Ford E-250 van westward on Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center, was attempting to make a right turn into a driveway, when westbound motorist Eve McCarthy, 56, of 12 Elana Lane, who was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry behind the van, attempted to pass the van on the right, resulting in a collision, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued McCarthy a written warning for passing on the right.

Wet On-Ramp

State police said that during wet road conditions at about 10:24 am on October 25, motorist Wayne Marchese, 44, of 171 Walnut Tree Hill Road, who was driving an 2011 Nissan Versa, lost control of the auto on the Exit 10 on-ramp for eastbound Interstate 84 and then struck some guardrailing along the left road shoulder.

There were no injuries. Marchese received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions, according to state police.

Spin Out

At about 8 pm on October 22, motorist M. Taleb, 35, of New Britain, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Status on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, lost control of the auto and then spun across the travel lanes, striking guardcabling along the right road shoulder, state police report.

Taleb reported pain, but he did not want medical attention at the scene, state police said. Taleb received a warning for failure to maintain the established lane, according to state police.

Chrysler Crossfire Spinout

State police said that motorist Donald Dolberry, 25, of Danbury was driving a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire sports car on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, about 7 pm on October 20, when he lost control of the auto, swerved onto the median, struck some guardrailing, spun about and then hit the guardrailing again.

Dolberry refused medical attention, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.

Kayak Gone

Police reported on October 25 that someone had stolen an orange molded-plastic Ocean-brand kayak from the Newtown Fish & Game Club grounds at 11 Taunton Lake Road. The Peekaboo-model kayak has a viewing window in its hull. Anyone with knowledge of the kayak’s whereabouts is asked to contact investigating officer Fernando Pereira at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Motorcycle Missing

Police said that sometime on October 20 or 21 someone stole a 2013 KTM-brand 350-XCF dirt bike motorcycle from a residence on Schoolhouse Hill Road. The dirt bike is painted orange and white. Its Connecticut marker plate number is 923578. Anyone with information on the matter is asked to contact investigating officer Felicia Figol at 203-426-5841.

Truck vs SUV

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Hawleyville Road about noon on October 26.

In that incident, Thomas Gaboardi, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a box truck, backed into a 2016 GMC Acadia SUV driven by Edward Bucnis, 76, of 59 Jo-Al Court, police said.

Bucnis reported pain, but refused medical treatment, police said. Gaboardi received a written warning for unsafe backing, police said.

Three-Vehicle Accident

A three-vehicle accident occurred on westbound Mt Pleasant Road at its intersection with Taunton Lane at about 5 pm on October 26, police report.

Motorist Anthony Adamcheck, 16, of 5 Boulder Creek Road stopped and signaled to make a left turn onto Taunton Lane, police said.

The vehicle driven by Adamcheck was then struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Laura Paik, 23, of 15 Overlook Drive, police said.

The vehicle driven by Paik was then struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Patrick Gonzalez, 59, of 190 Mt Pleasant Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Paik a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police report they verbally warned Gonzalez for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

DUI Incident

Police report that motorist Jennifer Tung, 24, of Turkey Roost Road was driving a 2001 Toyota Highlander SUV near 1 Toddy Hill Road at about 11:20 pm on October 28, when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a utility pole.

After investigating, police charged Tung with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn.

After processing the case at the police station, police released Tung on $100 bail for a November 17 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

At about 6:24 am on October 28, motorist Isabella Ann Luciano, 16, of 44 Old Green Road was driving a sedan southward on Old Green Road, about 500 feet north of its intersection with Valley Field Road South, when the auto traveled off the road and struck a tree, police report. Luciano was transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company personnel responded to the incident.
A two-vehicle accident that occurred on eastbound Berkshire Road (State Route 34), just east of its intersection with Pole Bridge Road, at about 8:45 am on October 27, caused extended travel delays in the area, with police, fire, and ambulance crews responding to the incident. Police report that motorist Carol Casillo, 57, of 3 Walker Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Subaru Outback station wagon, stopped for traffic conditions. Police said motorist Christopher Testani, 24, of Shelton, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan, then rounded a curve in the road and was blinded by sun glare, after which the Toyota struck the rear end of the Subaru. Casillo reported pain and was transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital, according to police. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company members responded to the accident. Testani received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.
