World Community Day, November 5
World Community Day, November 5
DANBURY â âIn Faith, Women Shape the Future for Peaceâ will be the theme of Church Women Unitedâs 2004 World Community Day. Worship services are being coordinated around the world for Friday, November 5. Calls for peace, prayersfor peace, quotes about peace, songs for peace and a litany for peace share the format of the service.
Locally, the Danbury chapter of Church Women United will be joined by members of Church Women United/Bethel-Newtown chapter members in presenting a World Community Day service at 1 pm at First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue.
World Community Day is an annual event that brings together Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian men and women in a common worship experience that focuses on issues of peace and justice. It is an opportunity to share in projects for local communities.
Admission is free. An offering will be received during the worship service. The offering will support womenâs ecumenical program priorities to strengthen families worldwide in the 21st Century.
