The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard will hold its annual “Ride-A-Thon” to benefit the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital on Sunday, November 7.

The event works just like a typical walkathon, but instead riders ride their horses on an eight- to 10-mile trail ride with sponsors donating a certain amount of money per mile. The event is open to all horseowners/riders.

Rain date will be November 14.

In the past, the Second Company has raised as much as $4,000 to $5,000 to support the national charity, which was founded by actor Danny Thomas and whose daughter Marlo carries on his work today. Interested riders can call 729-5646 or 426-9046 for further info and entry forms.

The event will have start times from 9 am to 12 noon with single riders meeting at 11 am to form a group. Come ride some of the most scenic trails in the area and support a good cause as well.

Riders should also have proof of rabies vaccinations and negative Coggins to show for their mounts.

Trail Ride For FAITH

The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard will be hosting an open trail ride at its facility (across from the Fairfield Hills Campus) on Saturday, November 20, at 10 am.

Horse owners may ride the course after presenting a bag of non-perishable groceries. Cash donations will also be accepted. There will be fast, slow and medium paced groups. Food items will be donated to the FAITH food pantry of Sandy Hook.

Proof of negative Coggins and Rabies vaccinations will also be required. To obtain more information contact Linda Myers at 426-9046 or Karen deFriesse at 775-9781.
