Student Joins JR NYLC Conference

Sara Costa, granddaughter of longtime former Newtown residents Ronald and Carolyn Costa and daughter of John and Margaret Costa of Norwalk, recently joined 200 middle school students across the nation in attending the Junior National Young Leaders Conference from October 16 to October 21 in Washington, D.C.

Themed The Legacy of American Leadership, the conference introduced the youth to the rich tradition of leadership throughout American history while helping them to develop their own leadership skills. In addition to studying notable US leaders and historic figures, Sara studied the impact of leadership throughout critical periods of American history, including the Civil War and Reconstruction, World War II and the Great Depression and the Civil Rights movement.

The Congressional Youth Leadership Council, a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization, sponsored the conference.
