Six Charged With Fairfield Hills Trespassing
In their continuing trespassing enforcement campaign, police charged another six people early on the morning of October 22 with simple trespassing at the town-owned Fairfield Hills core campus.
Police said the six people parked vehicles at Reed Intermediate School and then walked across Wasserman Way to the campus, which is closed to the public from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise. The incident occurred about 12:25 am.
Police said that when asked what they were doing on the premises, the trespassers responded that they had learned of Fairfield Hills from the Internet and wanted to inspect the premises in the nighttime.
The former home to more than 3,500 mental patients, Fairfield Hills closed as a state psychiatric hospital in December 1995. Fairfield Hills has acquired a reputation for being âhauntedâ and as a site of paranormal activity.
Issued infraction tickets for simple trespassing were: Matthew Bethley, 18, of Fairfield; Matthew Cuccaro, 20, of Fairfield; Jennifer Chamberlain, 17, of Fairfield; Daniel OâHalloran, 18, of Bridgeport; Ashley Bongiovani, 17, of Fairfield; and David Timmerman, 24, of Stamford, police said.
The tickets carry $92 fines. The recipients can pay the fines or challenge the charges in court.
