Porco’s Construction captured the Newtown Sunday Slo-Pitch League championship for the second straight season, upending Southbury Printing in the finals back on September 18. Porco’s finished 16-1 (making it 32-2 over the past two years).

Porco’s collected 58 hits while crushing Southbury 21-6 and 21-2. In the first win, Dave Samoskevich and Jim McKee each went 5-for-5 with McKee banging out a double, homer, and driving in seven runs. Keith Brown was 3-for-5 with six RBI while Rick Kasbarian was 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. Kris Svensson was 2-for-2 and scored five runs. For Southbury, Howie Zipperstein banged out two hits as did Greg Giroux, Pat Smith, and Russ Hanson.

In the second win, Chris Dennis was 4-for-5 with a homer and five runs batted in. Svensson, Kasbarian and McKee had four hits apiece with McKee (who had four RBI) and Tim Zeno also homering. Samoskevich was 3-for-5 with four RBI. For Southbury, Giroux had two hits as did Dave Pissano and Hanson. Smith was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs on sacrifice flies.
