Sunday, October 31 â The Newtown Bridle Lands Association will host its annual Frost on the Pumpkin Hunter Pace on Sunday, October 31, from 8 am to 12 noon. Lunch will be served from 11 am to 2 pm. Entries close October 22 or when full. All riders are encouraged to ride in costume as special prizes will be given to best costumed team, the oldest horse and rider combination, and the âPeanutâ award to the youngest rider. Sunday, November 87 â The Woodbury FFA will host its annual Hunter Pace on Sunday, November 7. All proceeds will benefit the Woodbury FFA, the national agricultural youth leadership organization associated with the Agri-Science program at Nonnewaug High School and will go to scholarship funds. The event will feature slower (hack) and faster (hunt) divisions that will be divided into junior and senior sections. Entries are $50 for seniors and $40 for juniors under 18. Thursday, November 11 through Sunday, November 14 â The seventh annual Equine Affaire will be held Thursday, November 11 through Sunday, November 14, at the Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Saturday, November 6 â Animals For Life, a non-profit animal rescue organization, will host a public adoption for cats and kittens on Saturday, November 6, from 11 am to 3 pm, at the VFW Hall in Southbury. Sunday, November 7 â The Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard will hold its annual Benefit Trail Ride for St. Judeâs Childrenâs Hospital on Sunday, November 7. There will be start times from 9 am to 12 noon, with single riders gathering at 11 am and going out as a group. There will be pony rides for the kids from 10 am to 12 noon. Misunderstandings Are Rife

It seems that for the coming year the only thing that's happening is we are separating the orange bags from the non-orange bags. I don't see how this would help anything. If the ultimate goal is to reduce the amount of garbage in the system, a pay-by-weight program or something similar would have a much better chance of working. The trick will be to make it fair and efficient. Mandating where we buy special trash bags is just silly.

David Ackert brings up an excellent point, this project would benefit the "developer, Landowner, and real estate professional". The key person there is the "Landowner". When Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau was fighting alongside George Washington he was working to protect our freedoms and rights as Landowners. In this circumstance, the landowner does have rights. I hope the developer drops their plan for 117 cluster homes and decides to put in 132 one-acre homes instead. 117 cluster homes on 20-60 Castle Hill Road while the process of the discontinuance is ongoing. Trudell has said that he needs the road to be discontinued to develop the land the way his plans currently call for, on roughly 40 acres of the 132 acre property.

Golden Anniversary For Local Chaplain

It's great to reduce waste and to push for composting, but this orange bag thing is crazy. I hope residents refuse and protest this ridiculousness. People have to pay high property taxes, a transfer station permit for $100 annually, and now on top of it purchase bags from the town at an unknown price. If you have larger garbage bags in a bin at home, you will have to abandon those and instead stuff everything into little orange bags with the Newtown seal on them for a currently undisclosed price. This is absurd...
