Sunday, October 31 – The Fairfield County Hounds Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 31, at Curtis Road in Bridgewater. Contact Gigi Haber at 1-203-255-2522 for further information.

Sunday, October 31 – The Newtown Bridle Lands Association will host its annual Frost on the Pumpkin Hunter Pace on Sunday, October 31, from 8 am to 12 noon. Lunch will be served from 11 am to 2 pm. Entries close October 22 or when full. All riders are encouraged to ride in costume as special prizes will be given to best costumed team, the oldest horse and rider combination, and the ‘Peanut’ award to the youngest rider. Sunday, November 87 – The Woodbury FFA will host its annual Hunter Pace on Sunday, November 7. All proceeds will benefit the Woodbury FFA, the national agricultural youth leadership organization associated with the Agri-Science program at Nonnewaug High School and will go to scholarship funds. The event will feature slower (hack) and faster (hunt) divisions that will be divided into junior and senior sections. Entries are $50 for seniors and $40 for juniors under 18. Thursday, November 11 through Sunday, November 14 – The seventh annual Equine Affaire will be held Thursday, November 11 through Sunday, November 14, at the Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts. There will be 200 clinics, seminars and demonstrations in six venues throughout the four-day event. More than 400 of the nation’s finest equine-related retailers and manufacturers will be on hand. Sunday, November 14 – Cricker Brook Farm will hold a Schooling Show on Sunday, November 14. Classes will include Beginner Hunter and Equitation, Walk/Trot, Micro, Pleasure, Leadline, Beginner Adult, Schooling Hunter and Jumpers. A series high-point award will be made. SPECIAL EVENTS

 

Saturday, November 6 – Animals For Life, a non-profit animal rescue organization, will host a public adoption for cats and kittens on Saturday, November 6, from 11 am to 3 pm, at the VFW Hall in Southbury. Cats and kittens of various sizes, ages, and colors are available. For further information, call 267-6777.

Sunday, November 7 – The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard will hold its annual Benefit Trail Ride for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital on Sunday, November 7. There will be start times from 9 am to 12 noon, with single riders gathering at 11 am and going out as a group. There will be pony rides for the kids from 10 am to 12 noon.
