Roberta Fainer Offchiss
On October 15, Roberta Joan (Fainer) Offchiss gently passed from this revolving earth. She was a longtime resident of Sandy Hook and then Woodbury.
Known as Dusty, because of the stardust color of her beautiful hazel eyes, she gifted her friends and family with her friendship and love.
Dusty was born in Derby, on January 11, 1940, to parents Helen (Kirpas) and Joseph Fainer.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Jr.
She attended local schools, married, worked at the Yale Library, and then as a secretary at St Rose School in Newtown, where she enjoyed interacting with the children most of all.
An avid bridge enthusiast, she played the game right up until her late 70s. For the past many years she also enjoyed her “Friday Night Gang” dinners, birthday celebrations with close friends, and Kaching!Kaching! trips.
Dusty leaves behind her son, Todd, of Mooresville, N.C.; her daughter-in-law, Andrea; two grandchildren, Orrin and Elise, who lit up her life; and many dear friends.
Contributions may be made in her memory to Catholic Charities — Attn John Noonan, 839-841 Asylum Avenue, Hartford CT 06105.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
