To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to give my support to Philip Cruz for Police Commission.

Over the past 26 years, Philip Cruz has held many important leadership positions in the Newtown School District, and he is currently a social studies teacher at Newtown Middle School. I had the pleasure of being a student in his social studies class as well as his advisory class when I was in eighth grade, and now, seven years later, I am still grateful for all that he taught me.

Philip Cruz helped me grow and overcome a lot of challenges that I faced as a student, but even more so as a person. He was always so kind and generous with me and every other student as well. Anyone who knows him can see that he cares about helping people, and he cares about this town. I know that it takes a lot to be elected into office, but having gotten to know Philip Cruz, I can confidently say that he will put in an enormous effort toward helping people and helping our town in any way he can.
