The next meeting of The Genealogy Club of Newtown will be at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, on Wednesday, November 13.

Meetings start promptly at 7 pm, but all are invited to arrive early to converse with other genealogists and have some light refreshments.

This month’s speaker will be Joel Levitt, who will discuss his book, The Tree Of Lives: My Journey Through Genealogy.

Released in January, Mr Levitt’s book is the story of his immigrant ancestors and their descendants as they arrived and settled in the Golden Land. Within its pages of histories, photos, documents, and family trees are wedding bandleaders and nightclub piano players, a Ballet Master and a mobster, and generations of strivers from the streets of Brooklyn.

Mr Levitt will talk about his book and then open the floor for questions from the audience.

Genealogy Club of Newtown meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month, September through June. Meetings are open to the public, free of charge, and are co-sponsored by the library.

For those who wish to join, club membership is $20 annually for one person or $30 for a family membership.

Longtime member Bea Morgan is available in the Genealogy Room of the Library on Mondays from 2 to 4 or so or by appointment on any other weekday. There is a dedicated computer with programs including ancestry.com to help with your research, as well as a roomful of books and periodicals for your use.

For additional information or to make an appointment, Ms Morgan can be reached at 203-304-1861. Ms Morgan can also provide information about the club.
