Letter of Endorsement
To the Editor:
My first contact with Mitch Bolinsky, Newtown’s state representative in the 106th district, was after the tragic events at my former elementary school. At that time, a lot of people were throwing around ideas about rumored legislation and governmental action. Being a Sandy Hook alumni and new home owner in town, struggling to make sense of all the second hand information and to sort through the politicizing and advocacy, I wrote emails to my representatives on all state and federal levels expressing my concerns. In that unbelievably chaotic period, Representative Bolinsky responded to my email the next night, just after 11 pm, with a thorough and clear explanation of what was going on in Hartford, how they got there and what steps the various task force committees were going through. No agendas. Just putting off sleep to make sure that a single constituent had the information he was looking for. I was very grateful as this was in stark contrast to the generic form letters I received from our federal representatives months later. Mitch Bolinsky’s reply was more than I had hoped for and is a perfect example of how Mitch genuinely cares about those he represents.
Since then, Mitch has been a tremendous resource and sounding board as I have embarked on my own journey into public service. When I’ve asked him about topics, he is always ready with a prompt, well thought out and calming response. That gives me comfort knowing the amount of time he puts into his preparation, insuring he is well informed before he takes a side on any issue. He is a kind person who refuses to say a cross word about his opponent, even candidly. Mitch has a wealth of experience that I feel makes him well suited for his job in Hartford. I have a lot of respect for Mitch as a person and an elected official. I believe he goes about it the right way.
Mitch puts his heart into being our state representative and for that reason he is the person I want representing me in Hartford. I hope you will join me on November 4th in supporting his reelection.
Thank you,
Ryan W. Knapp
