Chileon L. “Chick” Dickerson, Jr, 84, of Sandy Hook, died October 24 in Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was born September 12, 1929, in Bridgeport, a son of Jeanette (Nichols) and Chileon Dickerson. He was the husband of Mary (Beers) Dickerson.

A self-employed plumber by trade, Mr Dickerson was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 10190 in Georgetown, Conn., and the United Methodist Church of Ansonia.

Mr Dickerson was a longtime Little League coach. As an avid sports fan, he was always quick to cheer for his St Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, and loved talking with everyone about them.

He went out of his way to help those in need and truly loved people. His love for life and positive outlook will not be forgotten. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know him will remember his humor, outgoing personality, and his standard response, “No complaints.” He brought love and light into the lives of everyone he met. He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

His family would like to thank the staff of Yale New Haven Hospital, in particular Dr Mareib, Dr Dominic, Emily and Joanna, and the staff of Lord Chamberlain, for their outstanding care.

In addition to his wife, a son, Chileon “Lee” Dickerson, and his wife Helen, of Ansonia; a daughter, Lisa Fasino, and her husband Michael, of Middlebury; a granddaughter, Eliza Dickerson of Ansonia; a brother, Robert Dickerson of Florida and a sister, Jessie Ceccarelli of Sandy Hook; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews survive Mr Dickerson.

Funeral services were October 28, in the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown. Interment with military honors was in Hull Cemetery, Redding.
