Waldorf School Slates Annual Enchanted Halloween Event

The Housatonic Valley Waldorf Schoolâs annual Enchanted Halloween event will be held this Saturday, October 29, from 3 pm to 8 pm.

The eventâs centerpiece, the Childrenâs Halloween Lantern Walk, leads visitors through a candlelit stroll through a series of fairytale skits performed by costumed characters, scheduled to start at 4:30.

The event will also include a shadow puppet show, a fortune teller, creating a life-sized, hay-filled scarecrow, decorating a pumpkin, and exploring an enchanted labyrinth maze.

Witchâs Brew and spooky snacks will be available at the eventâs Bittersweet cafÃ©, and a mobile wood fired pizza truck will be offering pizza made from organic and local seasonal ingredients.Â

All ages welcome. Visitors are encouraged to dress in costume and bring a flashlight.

The event is scheduled to run rain or shine and will be held at the Housatonic Valley Waldorf Schoolâs campus, 40 Dodgingtown Road, Route 302.

Not approving a development that has "checked" all the boxes because the NIMBY mob doesn't like it is wrong.

The town historically has strong collaboration with developers, but the primary obstacle arises from community opposition exerting undue influence on the zoning department. This "NIMBY" pressure often leads to project rejections that exceed the department's actual jurisdiction or authority. Consequently, developers face a limited set of options: either engage in expensive legal battles or leverage the Connecticut Affordable Housing Land Use Appeals Procedure (CGS § 8-30g) as a recourse.

You are correct, Bruce. I know how hard these plans are to put together, but I still believe that we can have more definitive and measurable goals. I know there are a number of units coming online, and the community truly needs them. If only we can move the development of affordable housing to more of a partnership between the community and the developers than the adversarial tug-of-war it seems to be now, that would be good progress.
