Two Trucks Collide On South Main Street

A two-truck accident occurred on South Main Street, just south of its northern intersection with Peck’s Lane, about 9:15 am Tuesday, causing motorist delays on the heavily traveled road.

The accident took place during rainy conditions.

Northbound trucker Miguel Sernaque, 48, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2005 Isuzu box truck, stopped for traffic conditions, police said.

A northbound 2000 Volvo tractor-trailer truck driven by Alberto Hernandez, 41, of Miami, Fla., then struck the Isuzu from behind.

The collision resulted in police creating alternating traffic flow past the accident scene until the wreckage could be removed from the area.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Sernaque and Isuzu passengers Emiliano Carrera, 24, of Stratford, and Carlos Ucanani, 33, of Bridgeport, to Danbury Hospital to be checked for minor injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters went to the accident.

Police issued Hernandez and infraction ticket for following too closely.
