Seminar For Caregivers

MERIDEN — AARP and the Connecticut Department of Social Services will hold a free seminar for caregivers on November 10 at the Four Points by Sheraton, 275 Research Parkway.

Keynote speaker is Elinor Ginzler, co-author of  Caring For Your Parents — The Complete Guide.  Ms Ginzler, an expert on long-term care issues and a leader in AARP’s independent living efforts, is AARP’s director of livable communities.  Several signed books will be given away at the conference.

Jocelyn Watrous, grand coordinator for state prescription drug plans for Choices, will explain the Medicare prescription drug plan and how it affects the state’s ConnPACE plan and other subsidized prescription drug plans.

The conference features a “wellness room” that will include booths with advice on how caregivers can take care of themselves while caring for others and resources to help with care giving. The conference cost is $20 for professionals; free for caregivers. Lunch is provided.
