Honda Vs Chevrolet
About 6:10 pm October 20, motorist Victor Penaranda, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Honda Civic, attempted to pull out of the Mile Hill Road commuter parking lot near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, police said.
At that time, motorist Alicia Woolf, 17, of 11 Farm Field Ridge Road, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, was traveling eastward on Mile Hill Road, police said.
The two autos collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Penaranda an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way and for driving without a license.
Walnut Tree Hill Road
Motorist Carole Holick, 19, of 44 Black Bridge Road, who was driving a 1994 Ford Thunderbird southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road about 11:54 am October 22, encountered a deer that had entered the road, police said.
Holick swerved to avoid the animal, but struck an embankment along the left side of the road, causing the auto to roll over, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Holick to Danbury Hospital to be treated for minor arm cuts, police report.
Police issued Holick an infraction ticket for a moving violation.
Church Hill Road
Motorist Robert Schwarz, 16, of 6 Charles Circle, who was driving a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo, was attempting to make a left turn out from the St Rose Church parking lot to go westward on Church Hill Road during wet conditions about 3:30 pm October 22, police said.
At that time, trucker Jason Hawlena, 34, of Woodbury was driving a 1994 Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.
As the Isuzu was making the turn, it went out of control and was struck by the truck, which had attempted to stop, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Schwarz an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.
Van Vs Pickup
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Glover Avenue, South Main Street, Sugar Street, and Main Street about 2:30 pm October 22.
Motorist Jack Qubick, 65, of 39 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, was stopped at a red traffic signal on Glover Avenue, police said. When the signal turned green, Qubick drove forward and then stopped, while waiting for traffic to clear so that he could turn left onto southbound South Main Street, police said.
Motorist Jesse Hill, 20, of Southbury, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Express van, had been stopped behind the Toyota, police said. When the Toyota moved forward, the Chevrolet also moved forward. But the Chevrolet did not stop after the Toyota stopped and the Chevrolet struck the Toyota from behind.
Qubick reported neck pain but refused medical attention, police said. Hill received a written warning for following too closely.
Berkshire Collision
About 7 pm October 18, motorist Samuel Moore, 47, of 63 Osborne Hill Road, who was driving a 2004 Subaru Impreza, was stopped for traffic conditions on eastbound Berkshire Road, according to police.
Eastbound motorist Paul Boucher, 73, of 2 Great Ring Road, who was driving a 1993 Acura sedan, encountered the stopped traffic and attempted to stop, but collided with the rear end of the Subaru, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Boucher a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
DUI Arrest
State police said they saw motorist Kathleen Christiano, 42, of Huntington, weaving while driving in traffic on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 10, about 10:30 pm October 22, so they pulled her over to investigate.
After performing field sobriety testing on Christiano, state police charged her with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the established lane.
After posting $500 bail, state police released Christiano for an arraignment on the charges November 11 in Danbury Superior Court.
Evading Responsibility
At about 2:14 am October 22, motorist Oscar Avilar, 22, of 16 Sunnyview Terrace, who was driving a 1994 Nissan sport-utility vehicle eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, was struck from behind by motorist Ryan Chmielewski, 28, of Oxford, who was driving a 2002 Nissan pickup truck, state police said.
The impact caused the SUV to veer to the right and strike some guard cables, after which it overturned, landing on its roof on the highway, state police said.
 Chmielewski did not stop after the collision and was later found about five miles away on Route 34, state police said. State police said Chmielewski told them that he knew he had hit something but was not sure what it was.
Avilar was transported by Newtown ambulance volunteers for treatment of injuries at Danbury Hospital, state police said. There were two passengers in the SUV, according to state police.
State police arrested Chmielewski on charges of evading responsibility and following too closely. He was released on $2,500 bail for a November 7 court appearance.
Five Keys Found
On October 24, police received for safekeeping a set of keys that were found October 22 on Underhill Road. One of the five keys found is an ignition key for an all-terrain vehicle. The other four keys are for miscellaneous locks. The owner may claim the keys at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841. Sergeant Darlene Froehlich is in charge of found goods.
Dodge Vs Dog
Motorist Kevin Golankiewicz, 47, of 3 Charter Ridge Drive, who was driving a 2003 Dodge Intrepid eastward near 80 Berkshire Road about 3:37 pm October 23, encountered a dog that had run onto the road in front of the auto, police said. The Dodge and the bull mastiff then collided, after which the dog died, police said.
Golankiewicz was not injured. Police said they verbally warned dog owner Jeanne Abric, 46, of 87 Berkshire Road for allowing a dog to roam.
Rear-Ender
Motorist Hien Tran, 28, of Danbury was driving southward near 51Toddy Hill Road about 8:17 am October 25 behind southbound motorist Barbara Engelman, 58, of Southbury, who was driving a 1999 Honda Accord, police report.
The Honda then stopped for traffic conditions, after which it was struck from behind by the vehicle driven by Tran, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Tran a written warning for following too closely.
Durango Vs Durango
About 2:20 pm October 25, motorist Peter Davenport, 38, of 66 Jeremiah Road, who was driving a 2005 Dodge Durango westward on Route 34, stopped to make a left turn onto Toddy Hill Road and was struck from behind by westbound motorist Marie Armington, 31, of Bristol, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Durango, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Armington a written warning for following too closely.
Jeep Vs BMW
About 4 pm October 25, motorist Lisa Stewart, 47, of Roxbury, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastward on Country Club Road, stopped at a stop sign and then attempted to turn left onto northbound South Main Street, police said. At that time, motorist Mark Chiaraualotti, 30, of Prospect was driving a 2001 BMW 325 southward on South Main Street. Â
The Jeep and the BMW collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Stewart for failure to yield.
Rear-End Crash
Motorist Carol Amaral of 3 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 2002 Subaru Forester northward on South Main Street about 3:13 pm October 25, stopped to make a left turn onto Appleblossom Lane, police said.
Northbound motorist Anthony Ferrigno of Trumbull, who was driving a 1994 Ford F-250 pickup truck, then drove into the rear end of the Subaru, police said. Roads were wet at the time.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Amaral to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. Police issued Ferrigno an infraction for following too closely.
BMW Vs Chevrolet
Motorist Nicole Cinicolo, 19, of 111 Hanover Road, who was driving a 1997 BMW 318-I near 24 Queen Street about 7:30 pm October 24, lost control of the auto, entered the opposite travel lane and collided with a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Gabor Bernath, 42, of 62 Nearbrook Road, police report. There were no injuries. Police issued Cinicolo a written warning for traveling unreasonably fast.
South Main Collision
About 3:30 pm on October 21, motorist Gaby Mitri, 27, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2004 Acura TL attempted to pull out of parking lot at 113 South Main Street, but collided with motorist Andrea Kase, 39, of 14 Bonnie Brae Drive, who was driving a 2000 Town & Country minivan northward on South Main Street, police said.
There were no injuries. Police gave Mitri a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
BMW Accident
Motorist Vanessa Walken-Green, 31, of New Milford, who was driving a 1990 BMW 535-I eastward on Route 34 about 8 am October 26, lost control of the auto on a curve and went off the right side of the road, becoming stuck there, police report. Walken-Green was not injured in the accident, according to police, who issued her a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Church Hill Accident
About 5 pm October 25, motorist William Bolmer, 40, of 68 Church Hill Road, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet GMT-400 westward on Church Hill Road, slowed and signaled to make a left turn into his driveway, police said.
Westbound motorist Donald Heege, 50, of Bethel, who was driving a 1992 Toyota Paseo, then struck the Chevrolet from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police gave Heege an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
