Flu Shot Clinics In Newtown

The Newtown Health District, in conjunction with the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association, held a flu clinic at the health district offices in the Kendro Building, 31 Peck’s Lane, on Tuesday, October 25, administering 120 doses.

Three more clinics are scheduled in Newtown.

“The earlier people get the flu shots, the better,” said Health District Director Donna Culbert. “September or October is ideal. Since it is almost November, we’re really into the season now, but the supply has been erratic.”

The Danbury Visiting Nurse Association will hold a clinic from 10 am to noon on Tuesday, November 1, at the Newtown Senior Center on Riverside Road. At this clinic, flu shots can be billed to Medicare part B, Anthem Blue Cross of Connecticut, ConnectiCare, Health Net, Health Net SmartChoice (senior plan), or are $30.

The health district will hold another clinic on Wednesday, November 2, from 10 am to 1 pm, at the Peck’s Lane offices. Appointments are encourage, but not required; call 270-4291. For those who are enrolled, the flu shots are billed to Medicare part B or Anthem Blue Cross of Connecticut. Otherwise, the charge is $15 for Newtown residents or $30 for nonresidents.

The Newtown Visiting Nurse Association, the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association and the Newtown Health District will hold a flu clinic on Saturday, November 12, from 9 am to noon at Edmond Town Hall.
