Chelsea Morin, a 2003 graduate of Newtown High School, scored the game-winning goal with 2:48 left in the first overtime to lead the Ursinius women’s soccer team past Franklin & Marshall, 2-1, in Centennial Conference (CC) action last week. Morin, who hit the crossbar off a header in the opening seconds of overtime, struck the ball on a pass from Amanda Leatherman and led the Bears (11-2-1, 5-1-1 CC) to their second straight overtime win against the Diplomats (9-4-1, 4-4 CC). It was Morin’s sixth goal of the season and Ursinus moved into a tie for third place in the conference with Haverford … Erin Carolan, a 2002 graduate of Newtown High School, registered eight kills as the Roger Williams University women’s volleyball team blanked Rhode Island College, 3-0, in the second round of the Rhode Island Division III championship tournament … Striker Marcus Tracy (Class of ’05) has only appeared in two games and took only one shot for the Wake Forest men’s soccer team (9-3-2 as of October 20) … Defenseman Brian Miles (Class of ’05) has appeared in all 16 games for the Montclair State men’s soccer team (9-5-2) and has registered two assists with six shots and one shot on goal … Nick Mentesana (Class of ’05) has appeared in 12 games for the University of Missouri at Rolla (8-7-2) men’s soccer team and has notched an assist … Amy Robinson (Class of ’05) helped lead the University of Vermont 400 freestyle relay team to a fifth-place finish against Saint Francis of Pennsylvania. It was the first meet of the season for the Catamounts … Stephanie Logan (Class of ’04) has registered 117 kills – third best – for the Quinnipiac University women’s volleyball team (4-14). Logan has appeared in 17 matches (56 games) and has also notched seven service aces, 11 digs and 47 blocks … Amanda Hadgraft (Class of ’04) has appeared in eight games (starting five) and has scored a goal for the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team (1-9). Her goal was the first – and game-winner – in a 2-0 victory over Wheelock University in Boston … Kim Allen (Class o0f ’04) has a 1.31 goals-against average in 14 games for the Castleton State College women’s soccer team (10-4-2). Allen – with a personal 9-3-2 record – has played nearly 1,238 minutes between the pipes and has made 79 saves … Mike Troy (Class of ’03) has two assists in 12 games for the Fairfield University men’s soccer team (6-3-3) … Ryan Tracy (Class of ’03) has two goals and an assist in 11 games for the University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team … Defenseman and captain Allison Frobey (Class of ’03) has one assist in 11 games for the Plymouth State University women’s soccer team, but it was a big assists. In double overtime against Worcester State back on September 20, Frobey unleashed her patented long throw-in and found teammate Casey Bishop in the box for the lone goal of the 1-0 win.
