Captain Victor J. Marino

European Theater WWII Veteran

Retired Captain Victor J. Marino, United States Army, 87, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died October 24 at his home. Captain Marion was born August 2, 1918, in Bridgeport.

Captain Marino was a World War II veteran, having served six years active duty in the European Theater. He received his battlefield commission on the battlefield in Italy as captain, and served 20 years in the active reserve.

Captain Marino will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Irene (Risko) Marino; his sisters, Valerie (Marino) Mancuso and husband, Fred, and Martha (Marino) Spiriti; and brother John Marino and wife, Margrat. His memory will be cherished by his many nephews and nieces, and several grandnephews and grandnieces. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Ralph and Claudia Marino, his sister Philomena (Marino) Riccio and brother-in-law, Mario Riccio, and brother-in-law Joseph Spiriti, Sr.

All friends and relatives are welcomed to attend the Mass of the Resurrection at 11 am on Friday, October 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W Charlotte Avenue, Punta Gorda, Fla. Full Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at a later date at Charlotte Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Punta Gorda.
