Alexandra Katherine Zaleta, daughter of Juliana Zaleta and the late Major Eugene Joseph Zaleta USAF (retired) of Newtown, is attending Harvard University this fall working toward a masterâs of education in human development and psychology.
Alexandra is also the recipient of the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation graduate scholarship, which covers all educational expense for the length of the degree program. The foundation selects scholars on the basis of academic achievement, will to succeed, leadership, public service, critical thinking ability, and the appreciation for the arts and humanities. Alexandra recently attended a graduate scholars weekend at Georgetown University to accept her award.
She received her bachelor of arts in psychology from Vassar College and was the first alumni in the history of the college to receive the Cooke Scholarship. She graduated with departmental and general honors and was inducted into the Psi Chi National Psychology Honor Society. Alexandra was also a member of the varsity fencing team and was named Vassar Athlete of the Week.
