Annual Pediatrics Update Conference

DANBURY — The Danbury Hospital Department of Pediatrics celebrates 20 years of bringing community physicians together with hospital pediatrics staff and renowned national experts to discuss children’s health issues during the Twentieth Annual Pediatrics Update Conference on Thursday, November 3.

The conference will be conducted in the John C. Creasy Center for Health Education Auditorium at Danbury Hospital from 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Following introductory remarks by Jack S.C. Fong, MD, chairman, Danbury Hospital Department of Pediatrics and clinical associate professor, Department of Pediatrics, New York Medical College, topics and speakers will include:

“A Clinical Program for the Management of Childhood and Adolescent Obesity — Health Works!” and “Calorie Counting…Does it Matter? What You Can Do for Childhood Obesity,” Dr Shelley Kirk, assistant professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center;

“Update on Pediatric Infectious Diseases,” Dr Eugene D. Shapiro, professor of pediatrics, epidemiology and investigative medicine, Yale University School of Medicine;

“Helping Parents to Navigate the Obesogenic Environment,” Margo G. Wootan, director, Nutrition Policy, Center for Science in the Public Interest;

“Modern Genetics: From Clinical Genetics to Individual Medicine,” Dr Margretta R. Seashore, professor of pediatrics and genetics, Yale University School of Medicine;

“Primary Prevention of CVD in Children: Focus on Obesity,” Dr Laura L. Hayman, professor, Division of Nursing, the Steinhardt School of Education, New York University.
