‘Ancestors Road Show’ To Hit Danbury Library

DANBURY — For anyone who needs to jumpstart a genealogy research, or who may have a brick wall in their research, Danbury Library will offer genealogists — whether beginners or those who are more advanced — a special “Ancestors Road Show” on Sat, October 29.

Presented at the library, the program will allow participants to attend one or all of three programs as well as to meet with professional genealogists to receive help with specific research problems.

The programs will cover: “Resources at Danbury Library,” from 11 am until noon, with librarian John O’Donnell, who will provide information about the library’s Local History Room collection and online genealogy databases;

“Getting Started in Genealogy,” from noon to 1 pm, with Virginia Banerjee, a professional family historian for nearly 30 years, who will provide beginners with the steps in getting started on their own family trees; and

“Expanding Your Search,” from 1 to 2, with genealogist Harlan Jessup, a past president of Connecticut Ancestry Society, who will provide information on additional genealogy resources within a 50-mile radius of Danbury in libraries, historical societies and other repositories.

In addition to the three programs, professional genealogists from the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council will be on hand to meet, by appointment and on a one-to-one basis, with individuals needing help with specific research problems.  Appointments are available in 30-minute segments from 10:30 am until 2 pm.

There is no charge to attend the programs. To make an appointment with a genealogist, call Danbury Library at 797-4527. The library is at 170 Main St, at the corner of West St.
