Deadline To Register To Vote Is October 31; Municipal Elections Set For November 7
Secretary of the State Denise W. Merrill, Connecticut's chief elections official, reminds potential voters that the deadline to register to vote in time for this year's municipal election is Tuesday, October 31.myvote.ct.gov/register or newtown-ct.gov, up until 11:59 pm on October 31; can hand deliver their applications to their local registrars by 8 pm on October 31; or can mail-in applications so that they are postmarked by October 31.Polls Open November 7myvote.ct.gov/lookup.
Town Clerk Debbie Halstead reminds Newtown voters that a special Saturday absentee voting session is set for November 4, from 9 am to noon, in the Municipal Center.
Potential voters who are eligible to vote can register online at
Registrars of voters will be in their offices on Tuesday, October 31, from 9 am to 8 pm. Potential voters can also register on Election Day - contact the local registrars of voters for details at 203-270-4250 (Election Day Registration voters must be registered by 8 pm on Election Day).
An absentee ballot may be applied for by any qualified registered voter unable to vote due to the following reasons:
*Illness or physical disability
*Absence from town during all election hours
*Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day
*Serving as an election official at a polling place other than your own
*Active service in the Armed Forces
Polls will be open from 6 am until 8 pm on Tuesday November 7 for municipal elections.

District 2 and 3-2 - Reed Intermediate School
District 3-1 and 3-5 - Head O' Meadow School
