John Martin Ryan, Jr, of Greenbackville, Va., born January 22, 1938, in Weehawken, N.J., died October 23, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Raised in Weehawken, Mr Ryan served four years in the United States Marine Corps, followed by eight years as a policeman for the Weehawken Police Department. The Ryans moved to Newtown, where he began his career in the fire sprinkler protection industry.

He was a member of the Newtown Jaycees, on the board of Big Brothers, and a member of the YMONDADS. After retiring as president of Fairfield County Sprinkler, the Ryans moved to Greenbackville, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where he worked as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Eastern Shore.

His wife Anne Marie; his son Jack Ryan; his daughters Kelly Murphy, and her husband Clinton, and Juli Hanson, and her husband Bill; grandchildren Jack, Jessica, Sydney, Jeremy, Taylor, Caleb, Samantha, and CJ; his brother Robert Ryan, and his wife Vivian; and numerous nieces and nephews survive Mr Ryan. His father John Martin Ryan, Sr; his mother Anna Wilhelm Ryan; his sister Helen Ryan; and in-laws James and Adelaide Dolan predeceased him.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, October 30, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1913 Old Virginia Road, Pocomoke City, Md., at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lower Shore Parkinson’s Support Group, Inc, 3843 Devonshire Drive, Salisbury MD 21804.  Mr Ryan was an active participant in this group and appreciated their support.
