'Earth From Space' Slide Lecture
âEarth From Spaceâ Slide Lecture
BRIDGEPORT â Only a few humans have been privileged to witness first-hand the awe-inspiring views of Earth from outer space. This fall visitors to the Discovery Museum at 4450 Park Avenue in Bridgeport can come close, as they view âEarth From Space.â The exhibit presents color photographs taken from space laboratories and satellites as they circle the Earth.
These photographs are dazzling, but they are also disturbing as they reveal the damage being done to the environment, notes Howard Doughty, the chairman of the World Vista Foundation, which put the exhibit together. On Sunday, November 7 at 3 pm Mr Doughty will present a related slide lecture designed to stimulate environmental awareness. The program and accompanying exhibit show both urban centers and remote mountains, all with amazing clarity and color.
The exhibit runs through January 2 in the Balcony Gallery. The slide lecture and access to âEarth From Spaceâ are included with museum admission. No reservations are needed for the lecture.
Museum admission is $7 for adults; $5.50 for children ages 3 to 18, students and seniors; and free for children under 3.
The Discovery Museum is at 4450 Park Avenue, just one mile south of Exit 47 off the Merritt Parkway. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 5 pm Sunday. For more information, call the museum at 203/372-3521.
