To the Editor:

In the municipal election upcoming on November 7th, your vote can make all the difference. It will make a difference because those you elect will make important decisions that affect your life in Newtown. It’s especially important because Newtown is facing a crossroads in town governance.

There is significant turnover on most elected boards and commissions, including Board of Selectmen, Legislative Council, Board of Education, Board of Finance, Planning and Zoning, and more. Your vote can make all the difference.

Candidate quality matters, and with that in mind, as chair of the Candidates Committee of the Newtown Republican Town Committee, I can tell you that Newtown’s Republican team has carefully endorsed 30 outstanding candidates, consisting of both registered Republicans and Unaffiliated residents, who are qualified, motivated, experienced, knowledgeable, and committed to Newtown. They are ready to lead Newtown and to represent you.

These candidates are focused on:

*Preserving the character of our town while responsibly planning for the future

*Making Newtown a more affordable place to live, work, and retire

*Empowering parents by trusting that they know what is best for their child

*Prioritizing the pursuit of academic excellence in our schools, so all students can achieve at high levels

*Staying true to our motto “Nicer in Newtown” by being respectful of our residents’ autonomy and self-determination

You can get to know the candidates at the Newtown Republicans website at newtownrepublicans.org where each candidate has a profile highlighting their qualifications.

Please, make a plan to vote either in person on November 7th, or by absentee ballot.

I urge you to make a difference with your vote by voting row B on the ballot.

Respectfully,

Scott Reiss

Newtown
