The following is to express support for my friend Neil Chaudhary for Police Commissioner of Newtown. A decade ago I was asked to serve on a committee to study Lyme disease in Newtown. As a “few months” commitment turned into two years I had the opportunity to work closely with Neil. Many of the meetings were contentious, an environment in which Neil flourished as a member who could respectfully deal with both sides of an issue.

His intelligence and thoughtful ideas were valued contributions to the committee and helped create what I believe to be one of the most comprehensive documents on Lyme disease and deer ever written! As a Traffic Safety Scientist Neil brings to the Police Commission a unique perspective on an important safety issue for Newtown. His experience on the Legislative Council will facilitate the relationship of the Police Commission with the Town government.

As a longtime resident of Newtown I feel fortunate to have someone of Neil’s character and unique credentials serve on local government. I enthusiastically endorse Neil Chaudhary for re-election as Newtown’s Police Commissioner.
