To the Editor,

After 10+ years on the Legislative Council representing our Second District, I know the commitment, depth of understanding and conviction it takes to serve Newtown effectively. I also recognize and sincerely appreciate all the bipartisan support I have received at the polls each time I ran. Therefore now, as I step back, I do so with full confidence that Jennifer Nicoletti, Bryan Atherton, and Matt Mihalcik are the right team to represent District 2 and serve our entire community.

Incumbent Matt Mihalcik brings continuity to the next Council. His current experience, as well as his time on the Board of Finance, Economic Development Commission, and the Library Board, give him a broad understanding and valuable insights. A banker and small business owner, Matt ensures good stewardship of every tax dollar you give the Town.

As a Commercial Realtor, Bryan Atherton has had his name on signs long before he ran for office. Bryan attended Newtown schools, and could not imagine anywhere else to raise his children. With roots so deep in Newtown, he understands finding the right fit, striking a balance that works for everyone and developing responsibly. He has led and been involved in too many organizations to list, so I have absolute confidence he will hit the ground running on the Council.

Jennifer Nicoletti, like so many amazing women in Newtown, balances being a professional and a mother. Jennifer has decades of experience in the nonprofit world, where she has specialized in proposal development, contract negotiation, strategic planning, and budgeting, skills which will benefit the Council and thus the community.

Jennifer, Bryan, and Matt have each earned my vote, and I hope you will join me in supporting them on November 7th.

With gratitude,

Ryan W. Knapp
