To the Editor:

I respectfully ask your consideration of three very special District 1 Republican candidates to represent you on the Legislative Council, and endorse all three.

William DeRosa is an incumbent seeking re-election in District 1. He’s passionate in everything he does, as artists tend to be. A Julliard-trained classical musician, he’s a world-renowned performing/recording soloist, and concert cellist. My friend William is also a virtuoso of conservative fiscal discipline and a powerful advocate for fundamentals in our public schools. He’s a taxpayer’s best friend, and even played a key role defeating Connecticut’s last push for highway tolls, helping spearhead a nonpartisan, grassroots effort. Well connected in local government, he’s not shy about challenging the status quo.

Derek Pisani also studied music at Julliard and is an incumbent seeking re-election in District 1. The Pisanis are a 20-year Newtown family, and raised three wonderful Newtown Public Schools graduates. Derek’s a 30-year financial sector professional and CEO with keen attention to detail, skilled at contract negotiations, compliance, reconciliations, and due diligence. His calm, cool, collected demeanor, and analytic skill set make him a rising star on Newtown’s Legislative Council. He’s a terrific choice.

Jim Landy is uniquely qualified to be a great addition to the Legislative Council. He’s currently a Fairfield Hills Authority Board member, and professionally, as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) he’s always working to ensure the best interest of clients, as he will for Newtown. Jim’s full of great ideas and nothing gets by him! His 28+ years in the Financial and Compliance Sectors have included work with the National Association of Securities Dealers Regulation (NASDR), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). He’s a keeper!

I urge you to get to know all the candidates and VOTE, whether in person or absentee.
