To the Editor:

I write in support of my good friend and ex-colleague Derek Pisani, who is running to represent District 1 in Newtown Legislative Council. I worked professionally with Derek for over a decade. I got to know Derek very well and now consider him a close friend. I believe he will be a great asset to Newtown’s legislative council and deserves your full support.

I have seen Derek work in the very competitive investment management business. He has the ability to roll up his sleeves and get the job done. He worked to find solutions when others were finding excuses. He is hard-working, would often be the first one in, and would often turn the lights off on his way out.

Derek has a great personality which allowed him to get everyone on the same wavelength.

Derek is a family man with strong values. When you work with someone closely for over a decade you get to know what they believe is truly important. Derek is dedicated to his family — his wife and children. Derek is dedicated to his community. He truly cares for those around him. He is kind, thoughtful, and smart. As a bonus to his co-workers, he has a great sense of humor. Newtown residents will benefit from him being on the Legislative Council.

After 20 years in the investing business, I embarked on my second career and served two terms in the Connecticut General Assembly, ran for CT State Treasurer, and am now a member of the Investment Advisory Council of Connecticut State pensions. I am so proud to see my good friend and ex-colleague Derek Pisani run for Newtown’s legislative council. I urge you to vote for him on November 7th.
