A Letter Of Self-Introduction: Meet Jennifer Nicoletti
To the Editor:
My name is Jennifer Nicoletti, and I am running for a seat on the Legislative Council representing District 2. I grew up in eastern Connecticut, spent a short time in New York after graduating from Manhattanville College and moved back to Connecticut to raise my family. I have lived in Newtown for the past nine years with my husband Joe, 19-year-old daughter Ashley, 10-year-old son Cameron, and a menagerie of rescue cats and a dog. I have spent many hours volunteering as a girls’ basketball coach and with local animal shelters. I am also an athlete who still participates in competitive sports and was part of the CT Classics 50+ women’s basketball team that won a bronze medal this summer at the National Senior Games!
I worked for 22 years for the March of Dimes on behalf of moms and babies to improve birth outcomes and have in the last three years moved to the other end of the spectrum working with the elderly to ensure quality of life in their golden years. It has been my honor to advocate for some of our most vulnerable populations. I am a result-oriented professional with a marketing and sales background. My expertise includes consultative sales, contract negotiation, proposal development, strategic planning and budgeting, and project management. I am a collaborative leader that engages with and solicits input from all stakeholders and delivers solid solutions.
If elected I will promote responsible fiscal decision-making, work to make sure that we keep town taxes from growing out of control and ensure that the funds we do have are allocated in ways that provide positive overall effects on the quality of life for all residents of Newtown. I will make sure that we balance immediate need with long-term effect. My approach is listen, learn, deliberate.
I would have never thought several years ago that I would be running for an elected town position, but I have a vested interest in Newtown and the community. I want nothing more than to be the voice for residents that feel like they are not being heard. I am a mom and a professional that felt it was time to be a part of solutions.
It is extremely important that we lift the voices of the community. I will listen to your concerns and bring them forward. As your legislative council member, I will always work with the best interests of our residents, businesses, and the community as my guiding light. It is important in the role of being good stewards of taxpayer interests that we have representatives like me, that will be strong, independent, critical thinkers in addition to being team players. People who are willing to push the limits and say what needs to be said when it is the right thing.
I would love nothing more than to help keep Newtown the same town we all love and ask for your vote for Legislative Council District 2 on November 7th.
Thank you,
Jennifer Nicoletti
Newtown
I’m genuinely interested in how you will represent ALL the residents in your district, including those who disagree with you in a forum where you can’t just block out dissenting points of view.
Jennifer is an amazing candidate that will listen to all voices! Wonderful to see a strong, successful woman running as well.
