Maureen Dacey
Maureen “Reenie” Dacey, 64, formerly of Newtown, died October 14 in Charlotte, N.C., after a long battle with brain cancer. She was born October 16, 1950, in Goshen, N.Y. She spent her formative years and early adulthood in upstate New York before settling down in Sandy Hook to raise her children.
Ms Dacey served as an inspiration to many, both in her personal and professional life. Those who best knew her loved her upbeat nature, passion for helping others, and positivity.
She worked as a geriatric/long-term care nurse for more than 40 years, primarily in Danbury, Waterbury, and Southbury. She will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion for her patients and their families.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her children remember her as a loving, caring, and supportive parent who loved to talk.
A daughter, Sarah Dacey of Stanley, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kristian and Lisa Dacey of Wesley Chapel, N.C.; two grandsons, Camden and Evan Dacey of Wesley Chapel; and a sister, Rosemary Moore of Woodstock, N.Y., survive Ms Dacey.
Services will take place at 6 pm, Friday, October 30, at Hills Chapel United Methodist Church, in Stanley, N.C.
