Recreation Field Hockey Team Battles Brookfield To Tie

Newtown’s Little Lady Hawks Recreation field hockey team battled Brookfield to a 1- 1 tie in their first game of the season last Wednesday in Brookfield. The Hawks jumped on the board immediately in the first half when Emily Dirga found the back of the net on a ball assisted by Megan Kelleher and Jillian Pieretti. Natalie Shaker, Lauren Zimmerman, Jillian Chanko, and Emily Neave played great defense. Olivia Butler and Tessa Leon-Gambetta shared goaltender duties and combined to make eight saves.
